Counter-Strike is a team based FPS game in which players join either the Terrorists Forces (Ts) or the Counter-Terrorists Forces (CTs). Server settings may auto- balance when one team has more players than the other. Each round starts with the two teams spawning simultaneously. Each player generally starts with $800, two magazines of ammunition, a knife, and a pistol. Players are generally given a few seconds before the round begins (known as Freeze Time) to buy equipment but not move. Players may buy equipment whenever they are in a buy zone for their team (some of which can be for both teams) and the round has not been in session for longer than a specified time (90 seconds is default). Surviving players retain their equipment in the next round; those who have died begin anew with pistol and knife.
Counterstrike source is one of the best graphical online PC games there are. It is so amusing. While playing this game you will be able to choose from machine guns to pistols to smoke grenades. It looks so life like too.
To play this game on your pc I recommend a 1GB of RAM, 2.8Ghz of processor speed and a good video card. But you can play it using 512mb of RAM and maybe 2.5Ghz of processor speed and an alright video card, but it will lag and the graphics will be shitty.
The maps in the game are great. You can even create your own map. Creating your own map is fun because you can create special lighting effects or whatever you want you can pretty much make it. One of the best maps there are is de_dust.
There are rarely any bugs in this game. It is one of the best non bugged games I have ever played. And if you do see a bug you can report it to valve and they will fix the problem as soon as possible.
While you are playing you can either type to your teammates or opponents by clicking the default button “y” then type. Or you can talk to your buddies if you have a microphone in which you would press the default button “K”.
The standard bonuses are usually if you win a round you get $3500. If you loose a round you get $1500. If you kill an enemy you get $300. If you talk to a hostage you get $150. If you rescue the hostage you get $1000. And if you plant the bomb you get $800.
You can do cheats in this game. Well, it is not really cheating and only the admin of the server can change the settings. You can make the gravity lower so you start to float or you can make it so that every person has the right to any gun without paying or so that you get bundles of money. But most servers are VAC secured so that you can not cheat. And if you do cheat and the admin finds out he or she can ban you.

Ah the land of terrorism.
Graphics 10/10
Outstanding. With the added HDR recently, high end hardware can finally take advantage of its new "toys".
Now, Lets say for a second, your running something not so stellar. Say, an older 9600 ATI video card. Will CS:S Run? Sure it will. And it WILL look fantastic. Thing about the source engine is, its flexable. Take any game out there, and put it up against anything on the source engine. Itll run better on source with low end hardware, and even look good.
Amazingly, i had source running on an old 9200SE video card. 384 Megs of pc2100 ram. on a 1.2 DURON. No huge lag problems, no video stutter, and it still looked fantastic. Remember folks, they ported HL2 to the XBOX. And while it looks nowhere near what it does on my main gaming machine, it still looks GOOD.
Controls 10/10
Keyboard and mouse. Its a shooter. Controls are solid. Sadly theres no long winded way for me to put it. And itll be the only 10/10 this review gets.
Sound 7/10
Sound. Needs a little work, but its still decent.
Reused and recycled audio files plauge this game. Played CS 1.6? Or CS:Condition Zero? Guess what. Same stuff different label. Not that it makes the sound terrible, you know stick with that works. But they could have done something like update the team commands or something. Its sad im listening to the same "Roger That" that was in Beta CS.
Gameplay/Funfactor 7/10
I really think the game shines. It does. But not quite a 10, and reason is the gameplay/funfactor.
Looking passed the non 10 scores for everything else, lets face it. A game is only as good as the gameplay.
The game DOES play well. And i wont take anything from that. But sadly the source engine still to this day has hitbox lag, you can be physicly behind a wall when running from gunfire, yet your hitbox is still behind you. And what happens? You get killed. Why? Lagging ass hitbox.
Community itself took 1 point away from this score as well. With any game thats "online only" (CS:S isnt. theres bots and you CAN play single player, regardless of what the last user said), you have to take into account of the community as part of the funfactor. Lemme tell ya, If your a school teacher, for any age under 15, Dont play CS:Source. Unless, you really enjoy hanging out with "children" who trash talk litterally the entire game, stay far far away. Good news, you can mute these people. So all you end up having to look at is the chat spam, which can be ignored thankfully.
Now, is everyone that bad? Nah, theres servers such as TGS that play a more tactical and much more adult CS. So its not all bad, but finding those servers can be few and far between.
